What Guides Us A belief in balance—quality, value, and character

At Thurston Wolfe, our mission is simple: to make consistently exceptional wines that showcase Washington’s potential—without unnecessary price tags or pretension. We don’t aim to be the “best wine in the world.” We aim to be your favorite bottle to open, again and again.

Distinctive Varietals, Thoughtful Blends Celebrating what makes Washington unique

Our focus is on varietals that thrive in Washington’s growing regions—many of them underrepresented or underappreciated. From Zinfandel and Lemberger to Albariño and Tempranillo, our lineup is rooted in experimentation and site-specific sourcing. You’ll find both bold single varietals and expressive blends like PGV, Dr. Wolfe’s Family Red, JTW’s Blend, and The Spaniard.

Viticulture Science, Not Showmanship Research over ritual

Our commitment to quality is grounded in science-based viticulture and winemaking. We prioritize proven, research-driven methods that enhance wine quality without unnecessary cost or theatrics. This practical approach allows us to avoid practices that add expense without benefit—such as hand sorting, specialty yeasts, or heavy glass—while focusing on what truly matters: purity of fruit and balance in the glass.

Sustainability in Winemaking Efficiency that supports integrity

Sustainability guides our operations and philosophy. We employ energy-efficient techniques including small open-top fermenters, high-efficiency lighting, night-air cooling systems, extensive recycling, and the use of cost-effective tank materials. These innovations reduce our environmental footprint while enabling us to produce wines of genuine integrity.

In the Vineyard Sourcing Fruit from Washington's Best AVAs

We choose not to own vineyards, but we are deeply rooted in them. By sourcing from premier growers across Washington’s AVAs, we remain agile, reduce farming risk, and access the best sites for each varietal. Our hands-on approach includes crop estimation, maturity monitoring, and close partnership with growers to ensure optimal fruit quality every vintage.

Our wines reflect decades of experience, a dedication to sustainable practice, and a belief that great wine comes from thoughtful science, authentic craft, and constant presence in the vineyard.
